September was so jammed we moved the Brush painting class to the first Saturday in October. It was a lot of fun painting fall fruits and pumpkins!

I was delighted to be a guest at the Red Hen Press’s 30th Anniversary Benefit.

It was delightful sitting next to their brilliant publisher Dr. Kate Gale.

Opening night for American Idiot at the Music Center’s Mark Taper Forum was fabulous.

We were treated to dinner on the Plaza behind the Mark Taper before the performance.

Director Snehal Desai spoke to us.

And then it was on to the amazing performance. The New York Times had a wonderful two-page review of it. If you search “American Idiot’ Expands Its Reach.”

Afterwards we were invited to pizza on the plaza.

Before I knew it, it was time for ”The Salon on the Spiritually Creative Life” Thoughtful Carol Soucek King is always so generous to mention my books and scarves.

The theme for October was “Love” and guest speaker Reggie Odom’s “Love in Action, the Ten Commandments of Greatness” was inspiring. Searching for understanding among life’s often seeming dispirate elements, Odom wants to help people step into their greatness, manifesting a life that’s worthy of us.

There were moving songs by Dean LeGrand Carlston, Doug Decker, and Susie Katharine Shaw, and a poem by Sculptor Patricia Ferber.

The seed of one’s life is planted,

as our roots form, innocence is lost as we grow.

If love could be the sole nutrient that feeds us,

The world would be filled with only loving hearts.

As in the lyrics of Burt Bacharach –

“What the world needs now is love, sweet love’s the only thing that there’s just too little of…”

As always, generous Carol treats her “Salon Stars” to a feast at El Portal.

Happiest of birthdays Awesome Videographer Curtis McElhinney!

Next there was a lovely luncheon at The California Club.

The brilliant lecturer was A-List Designer Timothy Corrigan, who told us of restoring his 18th century cháteau. I was delighted to get a signed copy of his magnificent Rizzoli book “At Home in France.”

Bravo, Rachel Moore, President & CEO of The Music Center, Jerri Gaile, Spotlight Director; and Suzanna Guzmán, inspiring Spotlight mentor/coach. What a wonderful program for young artists! An evening at Vibrato Grill Jazz celebrating Spotlight, a magnificent program for students!

Thank you Rob Carson for your kind help when I neglected to RSVP!

Time for a delightful lunch at Neiman Marcus with a lovely fashion show.

Valerie’s sister Vanya was in town from Virginia so I was delighted to celebrate her birthday!

What an inspiring Fort:LA event with Founder Russell Brown and Historian Heather Goers. This marvelous fundraiser exploring the historic residence of Carol Soucek King will be long remembered.

Bravo dear Carol!

Off to Ca Del Sole to celebrate my dear friend Mary, who I’ve known forever and even longer! Happiest of birthdays, dear heart!

I’ll stop here but there’s more to come.

May each day be as light as a butterfly for you!
