What better way to begin February than at the Lunar New Year Festival at the Huntington!

Thank you sweet Ally for making sure we had a cart and special VIP treatment!

Awesome Nino Wong, Head of the Docents in the Chinese Garden greets Lovely Carol Soucek King.

This little fellow was the most amazing child. Here he is taking a photo with his iPhone of a stunning Scholars Rock!

Delightful music in the Chinese Garden.

Did someone say lunch?

This was absolutely amazing. It took 15 months and 80,000 Legos to make it.

Yes, I found the joy!

Laurie Pie and I finally celebrated Christmas and her belated birthday! Do you believe this gorgeous plant?

The Pie loved her Dave Hanson Mosaic.

Then we were off to Via Selfie to celebrate!

This corn is so yummy it’s worth the mess to eat it!

The shrimp are always top notch.

Make a wish Laurie Pie.

I am so proud of Dr. Wai-Yee Li opening her own office after years with the City of Hope.

I’m so honored Dr. Li chose my work for her new office.

There were many Commendations.

Time to cut the Red Ribbon.

Proud hubby Henry Cheung and adorable daughter Stephanie (Sophie was away in school).

Jhonny was a huge help in making room in the garage for the new book.

So delighted to be one of the sponsors for the East Meets West Parent Education Club’s Lunar Celebration. I’m beyond proud of Annie Xu who founded this fine organization.

Bravo Annie! Fun having Violet and Dr. Li as my guests.

Wonderful seeing dear Tammy!

Sooo much food!

February’s Salon on the Spiritually Creative Life hosted by thoughtful Carol Soucek King.

The Main Presentation on Growth with Graphic Designer Nicolette Peji, “Using Design to Grow Our Understanding of Each Other.” My takeaway, “Lead With love, kindness and empathy.”

Patricia Ferber, Poet Lauret for the Salon had two fine pieces.
GROWTH
A sapling was planted when the mother gave birth.
The child and the tree grew through the years of time.
As the cycle of life claimed the elder,
the tree dropped a seed that eventually sprouted.
Continuing the evolution of life eternal.
REFLECTING UPON AN ORANGE MOON
How does one erase a lifetime?
when memories are all that remain.
A shard, a twisted piece of metal,
remnants of once a fireplace,
standing guard as a piece on a chessboard.
In time, a new canvas will be painted.
The selection of elements will fill ones pallet,
along with colors of hope, dreams, and faith.
Followed by a wonderful diner at El Portal hosted by generous Carol.

Happy birthday Susie Kat!

I’ll be doing a workshop in April at Red Hen Press, and Founder/Publisher Brilliant Dr.Kate Gale and Brooke, her thoughtful & kind associate, showed me the facility, and we discussed the class logistics.

Camerata Pacifica’s performance at the Huntington was absolutely amazing!

Any time at Valerie’s is always fabulous!
