For a short month, September had a lot going on, continuing with the Center Theatre Group Affiliates New Member Orientation Meeting. “Giving the Gift of Theatre to the Next Generation.”

Afterwards, Christine Hart, VP Programs for the Affiliates, and Sweet Diane visit the Nan Rae Studio.

The Main Presentation for Carol Soucek King’s “Salon on the Spiritually Creative Life” was given by brilliant and prolific Cha-Rie-Tang, of “Pasadena Craftsman Tile.”

That evening dear Carol celebrated her Salon participants at El Portal.

Monday I caught up with delightful Debra at Olive and Thyme!

And then it was time to celebrate dear Susi’s birthday at Two Rodeo.

Tiffany happened to be just next door.

The furnace in the studio gave out completely so it was over two weeks without being able to work.

Dinner with brilliant Tom was a welcome respite.

Bravo Adrian Spence, Founder and Artistic Director of Camerata Pacifica for a brilliant program opening the 35th season!

It was great fun seeing Dr. Cleo.

I had a marvelous chat with gifted Paul Huang, Principal Violin at the Private Reception.

Thoughtful and most gracious Carol always remembers my mom’s birthday at the Jonathan Club. This time at the beach! Susi always joins us to celebrate.

The table is always set with photographs and lovely reminders of mom.

Dear Carol even got her own surprise birthday treat.

The chef presented Carol with a box of beautiful chocolates after he and the staff serenaded her!

We love movie night with Curtis and Yi-Lin.

Look what they brought from Crumbles Patisserie!

And my favorite take-out from Urbane Cafe!

We watched F1 starring Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem who was wonderful.

Plenty of popcorn was required.

I love my Smoothie time with Lizzie Girl.

I got home just in time for Curtis and Yi-Lin to stop by.

More pastries…

And gelato!!!

We turned it into a movie night, watching “The Order,” which was so depressing, we had to watch the final installment of “Bon Appétit Your Majesty,” a terrific Korean historical drama to lighten things up.

Time to say goodnight Somi…

It’s September 30th, a bittersweet day remembering my dear Charles.

Charles and I had our first date at Parkway Grill in Pasadena so it was only fitting to celebrate his birthday there.

And so went September with all of its joy and sadness. Looking towards October, I hope you’ll join us at the Autumn Moon Festival at the Huntington Botanical Gardens. It’s a great event this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, starting at 6:00. Just seeing the lake, the autumn moon, and the lines for mooncakes is worth the journey.

Of all your monthly reviews, this one takes my heart perhaps the most! Remembering our day for Rosella — and Charles’s birthday –
and all your generous support of the Music Center’s programs and training for children. — and more and more. Thank you dear Nan ! Yes, Desmond Tutu was right – the importance of giving bits of love every day and all the time — and YOU DO IT !
