Dr. Kate Gale, Publisher of Red Hen Press, visited the Nan Rae Studio with Karen, her delightful, huggable friend.

I love Red Hen’s book, Blaze, with stunning paintings and inspiring poetry. Thank you so much Kate!

There was a second class at the end of October. Can you tell how much fun we had painting Ginkgo and the Chinese Orchid?

It’s always a joy to see Dr. Li, a collector and friend for over twenty years.

And, of course, lunch with Precious Alice, another long-time friend, is always a joy. Can you feel the love?

We had to celebrate the World Series and cheer the Dodgers on. Veronica went to her first game with Ralph and Kathy (and me, too) this year, and now she’s not only the Dodger’s biggest fan but knows the stats on all the players!

Curtis and Yi-Lin, the dynamic duo, always bring the party! Somi is beside herself to see them!

Pizzas of course…we really missed Jan…

Daughter Sara told us it was walter’s 90th birthday so of course we had to celebrate that!

Somi was very intent on the game.

Well even though the Dodgers lost this one it was a spectacular evening as Somi and I recapped the time.

My brilliant friend Tom Backer invited us to the Wende Museum, where he is on the board, for a conversation with journalist Ali Velshi.

I was delighted to sit next to Cynthia Pease, a consultant for profit and non-profit organizations.

I had gotten Ali’s book “Small Acts of Courage” on Amazon weeks ago & thought to bring it. Fortunately, there was a book signing! It was quite wonderful to be able to chat with him as well.

I can’t think of a better way to close out October than going to a dress rehearsal of Romeo and Juliet. This was extra special because high schoolers from LA Unified were invited and it’s such fun to whitness their reactions.

Thank you Chris Johnsten, LA Opera and Joanna Calabrese, the Music Center Foundation.

I have to tell you the kids roared at the bedroom scene.

And I had to hold my breath when Romeo did all the acrobatics, climbing up and down for the love of his life.

Afterwards we went to The Conrad for a late lunch and I’m most sorry to say wonderful Agua Viva will be closing in a couple of weeks.

There were no trick or treaters this year so Somi, The Golden Doodle, made up for it. She wishes you endless treats with no tricks!
